In brief
  • Gespa published its report on the cantons' use of 2025 net profits from lotteries and sports betting.
  • The report was issued on 15 September 2026 under the Federal Act on Gambling.
  • Gespa is tasked with drafting the annual report on how the cantons allocate those profits.

Gespa, Switzerland's intercantonal gambling supervisory authority, published a report on 15 September 2026 on how the cantons used the net profits from lotteries and sports betting in 2025. Under the Federal Act on Gambling, Gespa is tasked with drafting an annual report on the cantons' allocation of those net profits, the authority said.

The report covers the net profits of lotteries and sports betting and their destination as determined by the cantons. Gespa's publications section also lists a 2025 survey among the responsible bodies and a separate 2025 survey among the cantons on the share devoted to prevention.

Gespa describes its remit as overseeing lotteries, sports betting and skill-based games so that the Swiss population can take part in them safely, and it publishes information on gambling offers, the legal framework and unauthorised offers. The authority is based at Erlachstrasse 12 in Bern.
