Flamengo and Fluminense protest Brazil’s fixed-odds betting ban

Regulation

Flamengo and Fluminense wore the message “Prohibiting is not protecting” during their 11 October match, protesting Brazil’s provisional measure banning fixed-odds betting. The clubs’ contracts with their sponsors remain in place; Fluminense president Mattheus Montenegro said the club remained committed to its partner. The clubs have also asked to participate in court proceedings challenging the measure, the report said.

The clubs’ protest and court action put pressure on the implementation and legal status of Brazil’s betting ban.
