Finnish ministry group faces stakeholder calls over draft gambling safeguards

Regulation

Finland’s Social Affairs and Health Ministry and its Gambling Harm Risk and Harm Assessment Group published draft recommendations on 27 January, with consultation due to close on 24 February. Nordic Law argued that the proposals undervalue AI-based risk monitoring and could drive players to unlicensed sites, while support service Peluuri said operators need clearer, enforceable duties. The submissions also address marketing restrictions, cryptocurrency gambling and the tracking of player limits.

The consultation could shape safeguards and compliance expectations as Finland moves towards a licensing-based market.
