Federal Court finds two former Star executives breached Corporations Act
Australia’s Federal Court found that two former senior executives of The Star Entertainment Group breached the Corporations Act through failures in managing money-laundering risks and informing the board. The court found no breaches by the other nine former directors and officers named in the proceedings, and had not imposed penalties at the time of the report.
The ruling clarifies former executives’ personal accountability, while penalties remain to be determined.
