Espírito Santo consumer bodies propose loss-risk warnings for betting platforms

Regulation

Five consumer-protection institutions in Espírito Santo sent Brazil’s Finance Ministry a proposal, presented during the week of 4 August 2026, requiring betting platforms to show the risk of financial loss before each wager. The proposal calls for a standard odds-based calculation, equally prominent risk and prize displays, and a confirmation warning when the chance of loss exceeds 80%; the ministry said the proposal would be reviewed by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting.

If adopted, the proposed rules would require operators to disclose wager-loss probabilities and add warnings for high-risk bets.
