Enugu enacts gaming law covering online platforms from January 2026

Regulation

Enugu State's Gaming and Lottery Commission Law 2025, signed by Governor Peter Mbah, took effect on 1 January 2026 and replaced the state's 2004 law. The law establishes the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission, extends oversight to online gaming, lotteries, sports betting and casinos, and requires existing operators to reapply or regularise their status.

Operators in Enugu face new licensing and ongoing compliance requirements, while inspectors gain powers to investigate and act against non-compliance.
