EGBA files Lithuanian payment-provider complaint over unlicensed gambling transactions

Enforcement & compliance

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) filed a complaint with the Bank of Lithuania against a Lithuanian payment services provider, alleging it processed transactions linked to unlicensed online gambling operators. EGBA said its investigation covered websites and apps targeting European consumers, and its secretary general called for payment providers and card networks to help identify and block such transactions.

The complaint places a payment provider’s alleged processing of unlicensed gambling transactions before Lithuania’s central bank.
