ECJ ruling allows member states to pursue cross-border gambling operators
The European Court of Justice ruled on 16 April that member states may pursue operators for breaches of local gambling laws, the programme said. It also said players could seek to reclaim losses from operators based in another member state. The discussion separately compared prediction-market figures with sportsbook activity, including a reported 7% share of handle and 2% of revenue in states with legal sportsbooks.
The ruling may expose cross-border operators to local enforcement and player claims in member states.
