The Dupla Sena lottery reaches its 25th anniversary on Friday 6 November, according to the report. Its first draw was held on 6 November 2001 at the Espaço Loterias Caixa in São Paulo.
In 2025 Dupla Sena took R$523.03m, equal to 1.97% of the R$26.61bn sold by Loterias Caixa. It ranked sixth among the 12 federal lotteries. The report puts this at about R$1.4m a day, or an average of R$3.35m per contest, based on three draws a week.
When Dupla Sena turned 20 in 2021, it was the fifth-best-selling game and held 2.7% of portfolio sales. It has since dropped one place, overtaken by +Milionária, which was launched in 2022 and now takes in more than double. The Easter special draw in 2026 opened the calendar of special lotteries with a R$35m prize that does not roll over.
The slip offers 50 numbers, and a player marks between 6 and 15 of them. A simple bet with six numbers is priced at R$ 3,00. Every contest runs two separate draws, and one bet is entered in both. Caixa puts the odds of hitting all six numbers on a simple bet at 1 in 15.890.700. Draws are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting at 21h, at the Espaço da Sorte in São Paulo. By the calendar sequence, contest 3.030 is expected to be drawn this Friday, the anniversary day.
