DGOJ director calls for risk detection and player protection in Spain

Regulation

DGOJ director Mikel Arana closed a gaming congress in Spain and called for public policy to put players at its centre. He said a mechanism to detect risky behaviour would support earlier prevention, and argued that protection should also be built into product design. Arana also raised the need to address ethical challenges from artificial intelligence and loot boxes.

Operators may face greater emphasis on early risk detection and embedding player protection in product design.
