Democratic lawmakers back federal gambling safeguards in the US
Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Paul Tonko backed federal safeguards for sports betting and prediction markets at a campaign launch in Washington, DC, on 23 September. Their SAFE Bet Act would set standards for sports betting advertising, affordability checks and artificial intelligence, while a separate bill would establish consumer protections for prediction markets and shift oversight to states. The American Gaming Association opposes greater federal involvement in sports betting regulation.
The proposed measures could set federal requirements affecting sports betting operators and prediction market platforms.
