DCMS appoints Kevin Fenton to gambling levy programme board
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport appointed Kevin Fenton to its Gambling Levy Programme Board, which will decide how gambling-harm funding is allocated, according to reports. Fenton previously co-authored a paper advocating a phased end to online gambling advertising. The statutory levy raised £120m in its first year, with 50% allocated to treatment, 30% to prevention and 20% to research.
Fenton’s appointment may influence how the board allocates gambling-harm funding, given his support for phasing out online ads.
