Chile’s Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel) told internet providers to block 37 more websites linked to online betting, following rulings by the Supreme Court and Santiago Court of Appeals. Providers Entel, Movistar, Claro, GTD, WOM and VTR have 48 hours to implement the DNS blocks and report completion to the court; the domains were validated by the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego.
Reportedly, Nepal's telecommunications regulator has cut access to over 200 gambling apps and websites following government instructions. Internet providers implemented the restrictions within 24 hours. The government also directed the regulator to investigate online betting promotion and facilitation.
La Polla Chilena de Beneficencia filed a criminal complaint against online betting operators at Santiago’s Fourth Guarantee Court, alleging unauthorised gambling, money laundering and criminal association. The court admitted the complaint on 21 August, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office will investigate possible criminal responsibility; the allegations have not been established.
