Council of State rejects appeal over Bolzano betting-shop licence expiry
Italy’s Council of State rejected an operator’s interim appeal against an order preventing a betting shop from continuing in Bolzano. The court said the licence had expired under South Tyrol’s 2024 rules, which set a two-year expiry period for betting licences that do not meet distance requirements from sensitive locations. The interim decision does not resolve the merits of the case.
The ruling indicates that non-compliant betting licences in South Tyrol may expire under the province’s 2024 rules.
