Connecticut court rejects Kalshi bid to block gambling-law enforcement

Regulation

A federal judge in Connecticut denied Kalshi’s request to stop state officials enforcing gambling laws against its sports event contracts. Judge Vernon D. Oliver ruled that the contracts do not qualify as swaps under the Commodity Exchange Act and said the ruling allows state enforcement to proceed, but does not itself order action. Kalshi said it disagreed and was considering its legal options.

The ruling leaves Connecticut officials able to pursue state gambling-law enforcement against Kalshi’s sports contracts.
