Michigan judge rejects Polymarket bid to block state gambling enforcement
A US district judge refused Polymarket’s request to prevent Michigan regulators from enforcing state gambling laws against the prediction platform. Judge Paul L. Maloney rejected its argument that sports contracts qualify as federally regulated derivatives, leaving state enforcement action possible; Polymarket had argued that the CFTC had sole authority.
The ruling leaves Polymarket exposed to Michigan enforcement and rejects its bid to place sports contracts under federal oversight.
