Connecticut bill proposes 21+ age checks for prediction markets

Regulation

Connecticut lawmakers are considering HB 5038, which would require prediction market platforms to verify users are at least 21 and physically in the state before account opening. The bill also proposes self-exclusion tools and advertising limits; civil penalties could reach $10,000 per violation or $50,000 for continuing conduct. If approved, it would take effect on 1 July 2027.

Platforms would face new age-verification, self-exclusion and advertising requirements in Connecticut.
