Codere public-affairs head Ana Parra Sevilla called for regulatory clarity on esports, virtual betting and payment methods at a gaming congress in Soria, Spain. She argued that esports involving real competitors should be assessed separately from computer-simulated virtual betting, and said the framework should protect consumers and competition integrity. She also cited a need for further rulemaking in the Basque Country to enable virtual betting.
Codere's head of public affairs, Ana Parra Sevilla, told a gaming congress in Soria on 22 October that regulation must be able to answer the needs of the new consumer, and set out esports, virtual betting and payment methods as the three issues that need separate legal treatment. Speaking on the panel "El Jugador del Mañana" at the XIX Congreso de Juego de Castilla y León, she said esports should not be treated as virtual betting because real people compete, whereas virtual bets are based on computer simulation.
