Chile's Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ) has begun a procedure to award two casino licences, one reserved for the Aysén Region and one available nationally, according to a notice from the regulator. The process was formalised in Exempt Resolutions 992 and 993 of 14 October 2026 and announced by the SCJ on 20 October.
The procedure covers the grant of one authorisation under the quota reserved for the Aysén Region and a further authorisation to open and operate a casino in the national territory, under the conditions set by Chilean law. Operators seeking a new licence or the renewal of an existing authorisation can access the official documentation and submit applications through the SCJ's institutional portal. The technical bases of the procedure were approved in Exempt Resolutions 989 and 990, both of 14 October 2026, and the authority's website also carries the electronic system for submitting applications and its user manual.
Operators have 120 working days to prepare and submit their technical and economic offers in line with the requirements and methods set out in the tender documentation. Offers are due on Monday 12 April 2027 at 10:00 at the SCJ's offices at Morandé 360, fourth floor, Santiago.
The SCJ has also set a preliminary stage for requests for clarification on participation conditions and on the content of the technical bases. Questions may be sent until 3 November 2026, the deadline corresponding to the 10 working days provided for this stage, to the email address given in the respective technical documents. The SCJ will then have 15 days to provide the necessary answers and clarifications.
After the submission stage closes, the technical evaluation begins. The SCJ must examine the offers within 120 working days of the submission session, applying the evaluation method defined in the technical bases. Reportedly, the procedure allows both the entry of new operators and the renewal of existing permits, and the split between the Aysén quota and the national authorisation reflects the territorial structure of the licensing system, which sets quotas and specific conditions for the establishment of casinos.
