Chile's Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ) has begun a new process for awarding casino operating permits, with one permit available at national level and another reserved for the Aysén region in the south of the country, where a reserved place remains to be assigned. The process was opened by Exempt Resolutions 992 and 993 of 14 October 2026, according to the SCJ.
The technical rules of the competition, approved by Exempt Resolutions 989 and 990 of the same date, are available on the Superintendencia's website together with the application system and its user manual. Bids may come from applicants seeking a new permit as well as from those wishing to renew an existing one.
Interested parties have 120 working days to prepare their technical and economic offers, which are to be submitted at a hearing set for Monday 12 April 2027 at 10:00 at the Superintendencia's headquarters in Santiago. Before that, until 3 November, bidders may raise questions and request clarifications by email, and the regulator will have 15 days to answer them.
After the hearing, the Superintendencia will have a further 120 working days to assess the technical offers using the methodology set out in the rules. The call follows warnings from operators including Marina del Sol about low participation in casino tenders in the country.
