Chicago council demands Bally’s resume work on $1.7bn resort
Twenty-seven Chicago aldermen called on Bally’s Corporation to resume construction on non-gaming parts of its resort, after the company paused that work on 9 August 2026. Bally’s said it halted construction because the council authorised video gaming terminals that it believes breach its exclusivity clause. The council argued the Host Community Agreement requires completion of the wider development, and a hearing is expected.
The dispute puts the resort’s construction schedule and the parties’ obligations under the Host Community Agreement in question.
