California lawmakers propose limits on betting-platform ads to minors
California Assemblymembers Mia Bonta and Pilar Schiavo introduced a bill to bar fantasy sports and prediction-market platforms from advertising to minors or allowing them to use their services. The proposal follows concerns raised by the lawmakers about young people’s exposure to gambling-style content; a 2025 survey cited in support found 12% of boys aged 11 to 17 had taken part in sports-related gambling.
The proposal could change how fantasy sports and prediction-market platforms advertise and restrict access for minors in California.
