Busan police arrest 23 in South Korean illegal gambling investigation
Busan Metropolitan Police Agency said it had arrested 23 people in an investigation into an illegal gambling operation based in Busan. The operation allegedly handled $1.4bn in wagers from April 2022 to September 2025, while the ring itself generated $2.4m; police are seeking another suspect believed to have fled to the Philippines.
The investigation involves alleged proxy betting across illegal gambling websites and a suspect police say fled overseas.
