Buenos Aires court sentences woman for operating unauthorised casino

A Buenos Aires court sentenced a woman to three years’ suspended imprisonment on 23 February 2026 for operating games of chance at a commercial premises without authorisation from the Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA). Judge Ariza Clerici accepted an agreement between the parties; the offence is covered by article 301 bis of Argentina’s Criminal Code. The specialised gambling prosecutor’s office said more than 40 searches took place across the AMBA during 2025 as part of actions against illegal gambling.
