Brazilian sports committee proposes 50% image-rights share for athletes
Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies’ Sports Commission approved a report in December proposing a bill to direct part of sports-betting image-rights payments to athletes. The proposal would allocate at least 50% of those payments to athletes who took part in the relevant event, with distribution through their unions within 72 hours of receipt.
Sportsbooks could face a proposed direct-payment obligation for image-rights use if lawmakers advance the bill.
