Brazilian Senate considers bill to ban online betting advertising and sponsorship

Regulation

Brazil’s Senate is considering a proposal to prohibit advertising, promotion and sponsorship for sports betting and online gambling nationwide. The measure awaits a rapporteur in the Constitution and Justice Committee after approval by the Science and Technology Committee in early March 2026; the report says Série A clubs received more than R$1.1 billion from betting sponsors in 2025.

The proposed nationwide ban could disrupt betting companies’ advertising and sponsorship relationships with Brazilian clubs.
