Brazilian Senate committee approves higher betting tax rates from 2026
Brazil's Senate Economic Affairs Committee approved a bill on 2 December to raise the tax on fixed-odds betting companies, according to the committee report. The proposed rate would rise from 12% to 15% in 2026 and 2027, then to 18% in 2028. The bill now goes to the Chamber of Deputies unless an appeal sends it to a Senate plenary vote.
Operators would face higher contributions on betting revenue if the bill becomes law.
