Brazilian minister Boulos calls for online betting ban

Regulation

Brazilian minister Guilherme Boulos said he favoured banning online betting, including the game known as “Jogo do Tigrinho”, during a 17 March broadcast, according to the report. He argued that betting harms household finances and said the sector’s regulation had produced negative results; the comments state his position, not a government decision.

The minister’s stated position signals possible policy pressure on regulated betting operators in Brazil.
