Brazilian lawmakers propose changes to betting ban and football sponsorship rules

Regulation

Brazil’s provisional measure banning betting received nearly 60 proposed amendments in Congress, with at least 11 seeking to preserve sports betting, according to press reporting. Proposals include allowing existing football sponsorships to continue for up to two years or until the sports season ends. The amendments have not changed the current rules and remain subject to legislative review.

The proposals could alter whether operators can offer sports betting and honour existing football sponsorship contracts.
