Brazilian lawmakers file bills to ban sports betting advertising
Brazil’s Mixed Parliamentary Front for the Promotion of Mental Health filed bills in the Chamber of Deputies and Federal Senate on 26 May to prohibit sports betting advertising and sponsorships. The proposals would cover television, radio, online platforms, social media, streaming and billboards, and received support from 20 federal deputies and seven senators. They also propose measures on gambling-disorder treatment and restrictions on betting types considered high risk.
The proposals could restrict operators’ advertising, sponsorship and product offerings if enacted.
