Brazilian Federal Revenue reports R$1.5bn in betting taxes for January 2026
Brazil’s Federal Revenue reported that taxes collected from gambling and betting reached R$1.5 billion in January 2026, compared with R$55 million a year earlier. The agency said the 2,642% increase reflected higher charges on the activity, while noting that regulated operators’ GGR taxes were collected in February 2025, not January.
The figures give operators and investors a comparison of betting-related tax collections while highlighting a distorted year-on-year base.
