Brazilian committee advances bill on illegal betting controls
The Finance and Taxation Committee of Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies approved Bill No. 4.044/2025, which proposes a framework to combat illegal gaming and betting and amend Law No. 14.790/2023. The proposal would add financial-sector reporting and monitoring duties, expand payment controls and give Anatel authority to block illegal betting websites in coordination with the Ministry of Finance.
If enacted, the bill would create new compliance and reporting duties for financial institutions serving Brazil’s betting market.
