Brazil government establishes 15-member committee on illegal betting
Brazil’s federal government published a decree on 28 September setting the membership and duties of a committee coordinated by the Casa Civil to address illegal fixed-odds betting and advertising. The 15-member body will coordinate enforcement, share information and develop a register of related domains, apps and payment accounts. A separate task force said it had taken down 506 suspected sites on 27 September.
The committee’s coordination and proposed blocking measures affect how illegal betting services and payments are targeted.
