Brazil Senate may consider casino bill before July recess, Irajá says

Regulation

Brazil’s Senate may consider a bill to authorise casinos and bingo halls, legalise jogo do bicho and permit horse-race betting before its recess begins on 18 July, Senator Irajá said. The proposal faces opposition after the Senate removed it from the agenda in December for lack of consensus; if approved by the plenary, it would go to the president for sanction.

The bill could change which gambling activities are permitted in Brazil if it passes the Senate and receives presidential sanction.
