Brazilian Senate approves measure directing betting revenue to federal police fund
Brazil's Senate approved a provisional measure directing a share of government revenue from fixed-odds betting to the Federal Police fund Funapol. The allocation is scheduled to rise from 1% in 2026 to 2% in 2027 and 3% from 2028; the measure also authorises up to R$200 million in Treasury funds for the fund in 2026. The amended measure now requires presidential approval.
The measure would redirect part of betting-related public revenue and alter the funding available for federal police expenses.
