Brazil’s SPA brings betting advertising rules into force

Regulation

Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) brought new betting advertising rules into force on 17 July, reportedly extending legal responsibility to advertising agencies, influencers, media companies and other promotional partners. The rules require responsible-gambling warnings and prohibit certain promotional claims and betting recommendations during sports analysis; violations could draw fines of up to 20% of annual turnover, licence suspension for up to 180 days or revocation.

Operators and promotional partners must verify licensing and meet new advertising and disclosure requirements or risk sanctions.
