Brazil finance minister calls for tighter betting rules and advertising limits
Brazilian Finance Minister Dario Durigan advocated stricter regulation of betting companies and tighter limits on their advertising during a 9 June interview. He argued for regulation rather than prohibition, citing the risk that a general ban could push activity into an illicit market. Durigan also called for higher taxation, transparency rules and self-exclusion measures.
Proposed restrictions and tax changes could alter betting operators’ advertising, compliance and market conditions in Brazil.
