Brazil expands action against irregular betting platforms used by 25.2 million

Enforcement & compliance

Brazil’s federal government announced new measures against illegal betting companies, citing data that 25.2 million Brazilians use irregular platforms. ANJL supported the decree and said stronger inspection, monitoring and accountability for agents working with such platforms could reinforce the regulated market; the figures were attributed to Justice Minister Wellington César Lima.

The measures could affect operators and agents linked to irregular platforms and increase scrutiny of betting activity in Brazil.
