MPRN launches Conto da Sorte probe into illegal betting across three Brazilian states

Enforcement & compliance

Rio Grande do Norte's Public Prosecutor's Office (MPRN) launched the Conto da Sorte operation on 18 June in Pernambuco, São Paulo and Ceará, investigating suspected illegal online betting and gambling. The operation executed search warrants against seven individuals and six companies; investigators are examining alleged crimes including money laundering and unauthorised lottery activity. The inquiry began with technical analysis by the Finance Ministry's Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, and involved the Federal Revenue Service and prosecutors and police from the three states.

The investigation places operators and payment firms linked to the alleged scheme under scrutiny across three states.
