Brazil betting companies dispute campaign figures on gambling harms

Regulation

Brazil's regulated betting sector challenged figures published by the Brasil Contra as Bets and Block do Tigrinho campaigns, according to the report. The campaigns cite research estimating 12.8 million people show gambling-related risk behaviour and potential costs of R$30.6bn; licensed-company representatives dispute the methodology and other campaign data. The article also cites two proposed bills in Congress, PL 2478/26 and PL 2470/26.

Disputed estimates and proposed legislation could shape debate over Brazil's regulated betting sector.
