Regulation

A provisional measure proposing a ban on sports betting in Brazil has coincided with job losses and halted regulated-market operations, according to figures cited from the ANJL. The association reported more than 3,500 positions cut in 14 days, with 4,167 workers on collective leave and a projection of 5,600 cuts over three months. The measure is being challenged at the Supreme Federal Court and requires congressional approval to become law.

Operators and service providers face further staffing cuts while the proposed ban’s status remains unresolved.
