Brazil bans betting sponsorships as clubs face revenue adjustments

Regulation

Brazil’s ban on betting companies sponsoring football clubs is expected to affect clubs’ direct deals, rights holders, prize money and future sponsorship values, according to sports finance specialist Moisés Assayag. Assayag said clubs cannot immediately reduce squad costs to match lost income. He also said the foreign-player limit is due to fall from nine to five by 2030.
