Bolivia's Autoridad de Fiscalización del Juego (AJ) intervened a premises in Santa Cruz de la Sierra where slot machines were operating without the corresponding authorisations, the regulator said. Two machines were seized during the operation, according to the AJ.
The AJ said the intervention forms part of its continuing work to enforce current rules and prevent unauthorised gambling operations. The regulator warned that slot machines operating illegally do so outside the controls set by the rules, lack the same guarantees of supervision and compliance required of authorised operators, and can expose participants to a lack of transparency and difficulties in claiming redress for possible irregularities.
The AJ recommended that the public verify that establishments and gambling activities hold the corresponding authorisation. "Por eso, la AJ recomienda a la población verificar que los establecimientos y las actividades de juegos de azar cuenten con la autorización correspondiente", the regulator said.
In September, the AJ intervened an illegal gambling premises near the Tercer Anillo in Santa Cruz, where activities were being carried out without an operator licence. In La Paz, the regulator intervened a poker activity being held without authorisation; three poker tables, chips and cards were seized during that operation.
