The Basque Government's Governing Council approved on 3 November the appointment of Juan Carlos Medina, mayor of Añana since 2011, as director of Gaming and Shows. Medina replaces Nerea Alday, who moves to lead Emergency Response and Meteorology.

According to the government's statement, Alday, the current gaming director, becomes director of Emergency Response and Meteorology after the departure, at his own request, of the current director Joseba Zorrilla. The statement describes Medina as a agricultural technical engineer who has been mayor of Añana since 2011.

The council also approved Jesús Arana as director general of Euskalmet, following the retirement of José Antonio Aranda.
