Austria’s online gambling reform reaches EU standstill deadline on 5 November

Regulation

Austria’s proposed online gambling reform cannot be adopted before the EU standstill period ends on 5 November 2026, according to the European Commission notification record. The proposal would replace the online gambling monopoly with an open licensing system, with concessions potentially awarded from 1 January 2027 and operations authorised from 1 October 2027.

The timetable sets when prospective licensees could receive concessions and begin operating under the proposed framework.
