Australian parties narrow gambling ad bill talks to VIP inducements

Regulation

Australia’s Labor government and the opposition Coalition held a second round of talks on the gambling advertising bill, reportedly focusing on VIP inducements, protections for people leaving BetStop and online ad rules. The Senate committee is due to report on 17 August; the bill’s proposed reforms are scheduled to start on 1 January 2027, subject to passage.

Any agreement could change the bill’s proposed restrictions on inducements and online gambling advertising.
