Albanese expects gambling reform bill in parliament this month
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 was expected to be introduced to parliament in August. Proposed measures include limits of three gambling advertisements per hour on television from 6 am to 8:30 pm and restrictions during live sport. The government needs Senate support from the Greens or the Liberal-National Coalition to pass the bill.
The bill could change gambling advertising and inducement rules, but its passage depends on securing Senate support.
