Aragón plans to freeze gambling tax rates for 2027

Regulation1 min read

In brief

  • Aragón's regional government has conveyed its intention to freeze gambling tax rates for the next financial year.
  • Quarterly accrual of the tax is under technical discussion with the sector.
  • Neither measure is a tax change already incorporated into the draft budget, the report says.

Aragón's regional government plans to freeze the rates of the gambling tax for the coming financial year. If carried out, the step would keep the tax burden on land-based gambling companies as it is.

Quarterly accrual of the gambling tax has become more prominent in technical talks between the administration and the sector. The proposal is intended to ease payment management and spread tax obligations across the financial year. The report describes the matter as of particular interest to hospitality venues and gaming arcades.

The report places these initiatives within a review of Aragón's regional gambling regulation. It states that the rate freeze and the possible move to quarterly accrual should not be confused with tax changes already incorporated into the draft budget.
