ANJ warns about gambling advertising risks ahead of 2026 World Cup
France’s ANJ warned that gambling advertising around the 2026 FIFA World Cup could increase risks for people vulnerable to gambling harm, according to reports. The regulator said marketing budgets had risen by more than 25% on average and asked companies to stay within their stated spending. It also proposed considering tighter restrictions on gambling advertising and sponsorship during major sports broadcasts.
The warning and proposed restrictions could affect operators’ advertising and sponsorship plans for the tournament.
