ANJ identifies 600,000 high-risk online gamblers in France

Regulation

France’s Autorité Nationale des Jeux said its new algorithm identified about 600,000 online players with a high probability of excessive gambling in the second half of 2025. They represented 8.7% of the licensed online account-based gambling population and generated €1.2bn, or 60% of online gambling GGR; about 300,000 were classed as manifestly excessive. The regulator expects operators to use the tool to improve detection of at-risk gambling.

Operators are expected to use the algorithm to identify and document at-risk customers across France’s licensed online market.
